Since the onset of COVID-19, Connecticut's food insecurity rate has risen from 13.4% to 22.8%, and the uncertainty of what will happen this summer lingers in the minds of families that struggle to put food on the table. The summer is traditionally a time when food insecurity rates rise, and this year will be no different for so many of our neighbors.
In Fairfield and Westchester Counties, we will provide 3,600 children with the nutrition that their young minds and bodies need.
We are only at the halfway mark of 2020, and FITB has already distributed 173,176 meals weighing in at an astounding 217,000 pounds of food!
