How to fundraise for a cause you care about using Facebook and Instagram
There are numerous way to support our work, but funding is always critical. If you’re already a supporter, one of biggest ways you can extend that support is to share your commitment to fighting hunger with friends and family, and invite them to contribute.
Facebook and Instagram make it super easy to raise money for nonprofits directly through their platforms. By setting up a fundraiser or adding donation tools to your posts, you can spread awareness, inspire generosity, and make a real difference.
Facebook fundraisers
- On a computer, go to facebook.com/fundraisers. On the mobile app, tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines), then tap Fundraisers.
- Select Raise Money and then search Filling in the Blanks to find and select us.
- Enter the fundraiser details. This includes a goal for how much money you want to raise and the date your fundraiser will end.
- Personalize your fundraiser with a cover photo, a title that inspires people, and a description that explains why you’re fundraising.
- Click Create to launch your fundraiser.
- Share your fundraiser. Invite friends, share it on your timeline, and spread the word in other ways.
Tips
- Send personal invitations to friends and family.
- Post updates to thank donors and encourage more people to give.
Instagram fundraisers

- Tap the + (plus) icon on your Instagram profile, then select Post, Story, or Reel to start a new creation.
- When you’re on the posting screen, scroll down to More options, then select Fundraiser.
- Search Filling in the Blanks to find and select us.
- Use your post to share your enthusiasm for our work and why others should donate.
- When you publish your post, the fundraiser link will be automatically included.
- Share in Stories (where you can add a donation sticker), pin the post to your profile, and ask friends to reshare.
Best practices
- Share your personal connection. People give when they know why you care.
- Thank donors, celebrate milestones, and remind people of your goal.
- Use engaging photos and videos. Visuals get more attention and inspire more giving.
