About The Event
On May 14, 2024, Filling in the Blanks will hold its Tenth Annual Golf Outing. The event, held at the prestigious GlenArbor Golf Club in Bedford NY, is our marquee fundraising event and your participation will enable us to continue fighting childhood hunger in our local communities.
Hunger is not only an issue in faraway places, but it's also happening right in your neighborhood. Food insecurity increased sharply during the pandemic, and families with children were hit the hardest. Many children are experiencing food insecurity for the first time, and we are proud to remain a resource they can rely on. There is still a lot of work to be done in CT and NY, and we need your help to make sure that no child goes hungry.
Filling in the Blanks is an organization that fills in those weekend gaps by providing each child in its program with a bag filled with healthy food for the weekend. When the obstacle of food insecurity is removed, children experience increased academic achievement in school and increase opportunities for success in their lives.
The golf outing will generate essential funding for FITB to continue supporting 7,500 children weekly at locations across Fairfield and Westchester Counties through their weekend meal program and school-based pantries. Proceeds from the event will also support FITB’s newest initiative, The Fresh Food on the Move mobile pantry. The mobile pantry launched in October 2023 and, to date, has served 220,000 pounds of food to thousands of local families, specifically in Norwalk and Stamford. With less than 1% of food donated to FITB’s program, funding from the race plays a pivotal role in addressing the growing demand for FITB’s multiple food assistance programs for families struggling with food insecurity.
