Dear Friends,
At this time of great worry and uncertainty, we sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are in good health. We thank you for the outpouring of support; we truly have the best volunteers!
This week Filling in the Blanks was able to deliver 1,100-weekend meal bags at multiple locations throughout Norwalk, Stamford, Greenwich, CT, and Bedford, NY. FITB has been working closely with the school systems and town governments to increase the number of sites receiving bags; we will hopefully distribute double the number of meals served next week.
The methods of distribution this week were creative, to say the least!
Volunteers packed their cars with meal bags to bring to school and church parking lots.
School employees filled their cars and vans with weekend bags to deliver directly to the homes of those that were unable to access the distribution sites.
Working with other nonprofits, we used their locations as distribution sites and for delivery services.
Additional food care packages were made to stretch our reach and include the whole family.
And of course, Hunter was on the road delivering to locations throughout Fairfield County.
Our warehouse continues to be closed to outside volunteers, and our food collection has moved to an online virtual food drive to keep everyone safe. It is a critical time, and any help from our neighbors is greatly appreciated.
