Programs & Impact

For thousands of local children who receive free or reduced-price meals at school, food becomes scarce on the weekends. We began providing Weekend Meal Bags to “fill in the blank” for just 50 students at one school in Stamford. Over 10 years later, we serve 10,000 students and their families across three counties with multiple food programs.

Weekend Meal Bags

Each week, every child in our program brings home snacks and pantry staples equivalent to four meals—two breakfasts and two lunches, which they would otherwise receive in school. Bags’ contents are selected with care and attention to childrens’ tastes and nutritional needs. The program runs year-round, shifting from school-based delivery to community partners over summer recess.

Mobile Pantry

To complement the weekend meal program, the Fresh Food on the Move Mobile Pantry brings produce, meat, dairy, and other fresh food staples to families in low-income neighborhoods. It also connects neighbors with wrap-around health and wellness services from community partners.
